Sector: Local Highway Authority Works
Client: Bath and North East Somerset Council
Location: Pennyquick Bridge, Whiteway Road, Newton St Loe
Description: Strengthening of an existing road bridge across the A39
Value: £142,000

We are on the approved list of contractors for Bath and North East Somerset Council and, after a selection process, we were delighted to be awarded this complex civil engineering contract.

The work involved the construction of a corrugated steel plate arch beneath an existing reinforced concrete bridge deck. We supported the new arch on an existing concrete pad foundation, underpinned with mini piles.

All the work was undertaken without interrupting the flow of road traffic across the bridge and water in the brook below.
